Relationship therapy for couples and families in Petaluma
Sometimes relationships can get stuck in painful conflicts…
It is so common to come up against places in relationship that are difficult to manage and to know what to do with. The good news is that if both members are willing to work at it, these places can become launching points for deeper and more fulfilling connection.
We are wired to connect, even though sometimes connection is difficult…
Knowing how to manage these points of pain can help us grow together. It can help us heal our own places of hurt and fear. It can help us to develop a greater sense of who we are in ourselves and in relationship to loved ones. We can learn to appreciate ours and others strengths, and learn that it’s ok if we don’t have it all figured out.
How Relationship Therapy can help:
When we are in a repeating pattern of conflict, a therapist can help us create space. They can help us to unwind stuck places by intervening, teaching us new skills, helping us practice them with our loved one and ourselves. We can grow in our ability to hear others and to express what is most true for us. We can learn to connect our emotions to our desires in relationship. What it takes from the client is a willingness to try new ways of connecting with both themselves and their loved one.
